Which Bhai Tika Gift Should I Send My Brother? Choose by His Situation

Instead of scrolling a long list, start with who your brother is right now. Each situation below points to the gift type that suits him.

1. If your brother loves tradition

Send the classic set. A Bhai Tika gift combo brings the essentials together, or you can pick items one by one: sayapatri and makhmali mala and bhai masala dry nuts. A Dhaka topi is a strong add-on for a brother who wears one on festival days.

2. If your brother is a working professional

Daily-use gifts work best: men's grooming kits, men's perfumes or men's accessories such as a wallet or belt.

3. If your brother is younger or still studying

Choose something fun and wearable. Browse clothing for Bhai Tika, or Tihar gifts for kids if he is still a child. For tighter budgets, see gifts under $10 or under $25.

4. If your brother has everything

Make it personal. Personalised Bhai Tika gifts carry your own message or photo. An experience gift such as a spa voucher or restaurant voucher also works, and so does a cash sagun.

5. If your brother enjoys hosting friends

A Bhai Tika beverage hamper pairs whisky, wine or beer with snacks and chocolates. Choose this only for a brother of legal drinking age.

6. If your brother lives with parents or a family

Send something everyone shares: Tihar festive hampers with sweets, snacks and dry fruits.

7. If your brother lives outside Kathmandu

Giftmandu delivers to major cities across Nepal. See Tihar gifts for outside Kathmandu and place the order by November 8.

What Traditionally Goes in a Bhai Tika Gift?

On Bhai Tika, sisters apply saptarangi (seven-coloured) tika to their brothers and pray for their long life. A traditional gift hamper usually includes:

• Sayapatri (marigold) and makhmali (gomphrena) mala: Makhmali flowers stay fresh-looking for a long time, which is why the garland is linked with wishing a brother a long life.
• Saptarangi tika: the seven-coloured tika used in the ceremony.
• Bhai masala: mixed dry nuts and spices such as cashews, almonds, walnuts, raisins, pistachios, clove, cinnamon and cardamom, which signal care for his health.
• Sweets and snacks: mithai and namkeen for sharing during the tika ceremony.

You can build your own with the create-your-own dry nuts gift.
